I've written a fairly lengthy article on my main blog about the StartYourTube name change.

I'm pleased to see that they appear to be getting their act together. Things have been a lot more stable recently and there are some new and interesting areas of functionality being added.

StartYourTube based sites are regularly being redirected to the http://StartYourTube.com web site. So, those of us who are paying for the service (and, in my case at least, paying for advertising) are doing so to send people to StartYourTube.

Worse still, all uploaded video now seems to be stuck "in the queue". Some of mine has been in there for more than 36 hours now.

Another message has gone off to "customer support".

Site's now pointing back to the correct place, but videos are still being held "in the queue" for hours on end...

flightsimtube.com (along with every other startyourtube site) appears to be redirecting to the main http://startyoutube.com site.

Again, I'm hoping this is temporary and that this is an indication that they're tyring to fix the site, but I'm not holding my breath.

Update - it now appears that if you refresh the page, it loads a different video each time!

At the moment, it looks like uploads prior to today are okay, but everything from about midnight last night is screwed up big time.

In addition to the 5 hours downtime last night, 10 or so deleted members and deleted media (none of which I've been given an explanation for), I now find that every video I (or anyone else) uploads is being replaced by some bizarre music video!

It's just asked me to approve media I already approved 2-3 days ago.

So, with 5 hours downtime, lost members and lost media, I can only assume they've rolled-back a few days. Nice one. Good of them to let everyone know what they've done so we can go and fix things on their behalf.

In addition to the 5 hour downtime last night, I've just noticed that the 10 or so people that signed up yesterday are no longer showing in the members list.

Lost data as well as excessive downtime? It's not looking good...

Once again, I've used the contact form to ask them what's going on, but I'm not holding my breath for an answer.

Well, I'm sure you can guess fromt the name, but FlightSimTube is dedicated to Flight Simulator videos and screenshots.

We've been going for around 4 weeks and have around 100 members and 70 videos.

One thing I'd love to see is the ability to send a message to all members of your Tube.

Recently, I had a problem whereby, for some reason they seemed reluctant to explain, StartYourTube changed the text of all my categories. I couldn't change them back as, every time I tried, it reset them to the wrong text again!

I digress.

I was looking for an easy way to send a message to all members, asking them if they could update the categories of any videos they'd uploaded, but there isn't one. You have to export the details of the members, extract the email addresses, prepare an email from your nice long string of email addresses and finally you're ready to go.

Why was this forum created?

I signed up with StartYouTube about a month ago. I've got my own domain and have been generally happy with the service provided (apart from some prolonged downtime).

However, one thing they're very bad at is communication.

I've sent numerous messages via their "Contact Us" and they're generally ignored.

They're also pretty bad at keeping users informed with what's going on with the site. A good example of that was today's email stating simply "We need a new domain" - no explanation as to why.

I created this forum in the hope that, as StartYourTube don't seem too prepared to help us, we could help ourselves.

So, if you've created your own Tube, or are thinking of doing so, please do join.

Generally, they've been pretty stable for the past week.

Just my luck, then, that I decided to invest in some advertising to try and get some more visitors when, 5 minutes after paying for the ad, FST goes down for another 2 hours!

How are others finding uptime?

LOL - just after creating this forum, I got an email from StartYourTube saying they "need a new domain name". Nothing more, nothing less. So, looks like I picked the wrong name for this forum!

Why do they need one? YouTube on their backs?

I decided to create this forum as StartYourTube seems to offer virtually no support whatsoever. I thought it'd be a good idea if users of StartYourTube could therefore help each other.
